Brachioplasty

The brachioplasty, or arm lift, is another surgical procedure which falls within the realm of body contour operations.

If you, or someone you know, feel you may want or need an arm lift, our surgical staff is here to help, with offices located in both Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California.

Below, you can find pertinent information about this procedure, and answers to common questions.

What is a Brachioplasty?
A brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a cosmetic procedure which is designed to tighten and lift loose skin in the upper arms. This will give the recipient firmer and more youthful looking arms.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Procedure?
Though you should always consult your physician, as long as you are an otherwise healthy individual, yes, you should be.

Brachio plasties: What to Expect, From Start to Finish:
After visiting our offifces (located in Miami or Los Angeles) for a consult, your surgery will be scheduled for your next visit.

At this point, you will be prepped for surgery, and taken to the operating room. There, you will be anesthetized (general anesthesia will be applied), and the procedure will begin.

To perform the brachioplasty, the surgeon makes incisions on the inner and under-surface of the arm, usually in a zig-zag. Then, the skin is removed in either a triangular or elliptical pattern. The surgeon may simultaneously suction out excess fat, if he or she deems it appropriate.

The procedure takes about 2 hours, and is performed in our Miami surgical suite, after which you may return home.

Recovery, and What Comes After:
There will, of course, be post-surgical pain and / or swelling. Your doctor should prescribe oral medication to minimize it.

After the procedure, the arm is placed in a special compression garment to help the skin adhere to the tissue underneath. This is to protect the multiple layers of stitches which you will have been given. Some will be absorbable and some removable, but whatever the case, your compression garment should be worn as directed.

When Can I Return to Work / Other Activities?
For the first week, you should avoid strenuous activity, such as bending and lifting. Light exercise can be resumed at about 2 weeks, and strenuous exercise at about 4 weeks.
