ABOUT MAX POLO, M.D.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Max Polo, M.D. has been in private practice in south Florida for eight years, located in the prestigious medical community adjacent to South Miami Hospital. Patients can be assured of receiving the highest level of care, whether provided by Dr. Polo, or Dr. Jeffrey Epstein who specializes in facial plastic surgery, in their AAAHC and AAAASF accredited operating rooms that are staffed by experienced and caring professionals.

Dr. Polo received his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania, and his medical education at the University of Miami. He then completed two residencies: the first, in general surgery, at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City; and the second, in plastic surgery, at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  Dr. Polo then devoted two years to receive more extensive training, completing an additional plastic surgery fellowship during which time he developed expert knowledge and technical skills related to the specific subjects of normal and abnormal wound healing, tissue regeneration, and tissue engineering.

Dr. Polo, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 2003, is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has published several scientific papers in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Polo has been educated, trained and board certified to perform all cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures of the head and neck, breasts, body and extremities. Over the years his practice has included facial, breast and body cosmetic surgery, breast cancer reconstruction, skin cancer reconstruction, complex wound reconstruction, elective hand surgery, hand trauma reconstruction, and microvascular surgery.

For the past five years, and by working with facial plastic surgeon Dr. Epstein, Dr. Polo has been able to specifically focus on and become specialized in breast surgery and body contouring surgery. Although he continues to regularly perform facial cosmetic procedures, the larger part of his practice is dedicated to cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, and body contouring surgery.

Dr. Polo's special areas of interest include: research and development related to improving the quality and safety of breast implant devices and surgical procedures; research and development related to new and alternative devices and techniques for liposuction surgery; research and development of devices and techniques related to autologous fat grafting, tissue engineering and tissue regeneration.
